Check your walk cycle the moment you draw it
PikpicoWalker is a browser tool that loads a character sprite sheet and plays its walk cycle animation. Spot uneven steps, jittery frames and direction mistakes without importing anything into your game. There is nothing to install and no account to create.
How to use it
- Drop your sprite sheet image onto the stage (or click to choose a file, or paste with ⌘V).
- The frame size is worked out automatically and the character starts walking. The small window at the top right shows how it reads at a small size.
- Change direction with the arrow buttons or keyboard, and adjust speed, zoom, frame order and background.
- Stack a sheet for each part with “Add layer”. Use the list to toggle them or change their order.
Supported sprite sheets
- Single-character sheets with 3 columns and 4 rows, at any image size (one frame is width ÷ 3 by height ÷ 4).
- Sheets with 2 or 4 frames, or with only up and down or a single direction, work too: pick them with “Frames” and “Row order”.
- PNG and any other image your browser can open. Transparency is preserved.
- Sheets split into parts such as body, hair and clothes can be stacked as layers. Files added together stack from back to front in name order. If sizes differ, each layer is fitted to the frame of the largest sheet.
- Dropping a single sheet replaces the selected layer, which is handy when you are redrawing a part.
- Four row orders are available. The default, Down / Left / Right / Up, matches the 3-frame, 4-direction walk graphics used by RPG Maker MV, MZ and VX Ace.
What you can check
- All four directions playing together, plus a large view of the selected direction
- Playback speed (1–24 fps) and zoom
- Layered parts, with visibility toggles and reordering
- Frame count (2 to 4) and frame order: ping-pong, loop or reverse loop
- Stepping through one frame at a time
- Pixel art scaling without smoothing, horizontal flip and frame outlines
- Walking across the stage, on checker, light, dark or magenta backgrounds
FAQ
- Is my image uploaded to a server?
- No. Loading and playback all happen inside your browser.
- Is it free?
- Yes, and no sign-up is needed.
- Can I use a sheet with eight characters?
- The whole image is divided into 3×4, so crop it to one character (3 columns by 4 rows) first.
- Does it work on a phone?
- Yes. Choose an image with “Open sheet” and use the on-screen arrows to change direction.
